India’s $35 Aakash tablet: It’s remarkable it ever got made – Liliputing

Recently the company responsible for designing India’s $35 Aakash tablet announced plans to launch a second generation device. It will have a faster processor, and longer battery life, but it will still be designed to meet the primary goal: getting low cost computing devices into the hands of Indian students.



Quasar: a window manager for iPad

I’ve been developing a new tweak for iPads called Quasar. Quasar is a tweak that allows you to run your apps in windows in your iPad. Just like in a window-based operating system, you can resize, move, close or full-screen windows. Quasar is available in Cydia Store for US$9.99.

Now Eee PC Italia reports that the tablet and smartphone will be available in Italy in May for 699 Euros, or about $910. The keyboard dock will set you back another 149 Euros, or about $194.



Kupa X11 tablet Windows 8 Preview review – Liliputing


The folks at Kupa sell a tablet called the X11 which features a 10.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, a capacitive touch panel for finger input and an active digitizer for use with a stylus, and a low power 1.5 GHz Intel Atom Z670 Oak Trail processor.



Vivaldi tablet with KDE Plasma Active dissected – Liliputing

The Vivaldi tablet is a 7 inch tablet and open source KDE Plasma Active software. The €200 tablet is expected to start shipping in May, but the folks behind the official Vivaldi user forum at OpenTablets.org got their hands on an early unit — and they’ve ripped it apart to see what makes it tick.
